Recyclable paper includes newspaper, newspaper inserts, magazines, junk mail (envelopes with windows okay), office paper, telephone books, paperback books, catalogs, cardboard (flattened), frozen food packaging, paper bags, egg cartons, and wrapping paper (nonmetallic and glitter free only).
Please note that greeting cards that light up or sing have a button battery inside that needs to be removed and recycled through drop-off programs. Batteries can start fires if they are placed in curbside bins. Cards with glitter must be placed in garbage.
FOR SHREDDED PAPER:
Customers of Recology Sonoma Marin can place small amounts of shredded paper in the GREEN COMPOST cart. Customers of Sonoma County Resource Recovery (Windsor) can put shredded paper in a paper bag and place inside the YELLOW section of the RECYCLE cart. Sonoma Garbage Collectors: Can place one paper bag or one clear bag of shredded paper in the BLUE RECYCLE cart each week.
