Curbside Services: Motor oil and filter recycling

Local jurisdictions have contracts with franchised hauling companies to provide service for collection of garbage, recycling, yard debris and food scraps, and motor oil/filters for residences. Curbside services are also available for businesses.

Recycling is the only legal way to dispose of motor oil and filters.

Curbside recycling for motor oil and filters is available at no cost to all residential hauling company customers.

How to prepare

Change your oil and drain your filter for 48 hours.

Transfer oil to an oil recycling container or a clean, dry plastic jug with a screw-on lid.

Place oil filter in a zip closure bag.

Place both next to your blue cart for pickup.

Special instructions

Call the hauler for your area before setting out items.

Do not contaminate motor oil

NOT ACCEPTED

Antifreeze • Brake fluid • Engine cleaner • Fuel • Hydraulic fluid • Water

PROPER DISPOSAL FOR CONTAMINATED OIL

Even a small amount of contamination causes the entire tank of motor oil collected to become non-recyclable. For used motor oil that has been contaminated with other fluids such as antifreeze, solvents, gasoline, or water see Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
