Your pizza box and pizza scraps* can go into your curbside green cart for composting. Even though most cardboard would usually go into the blue cart for recycling, the grease and food contaminating pizza boxes make them difficult to recycle, and so they are better composted instead.
Please make sure to remove any plastic condiment packets, utensils, and dipping sauce containers before composting the pizza box. These single use plastic items are too small and contaminated with food to be recycled, and they must be thrown into the garbage.
* Customers of the Sonoma Garbage Collectors cannot place meat, bones, dairy, or seafood in the curbside green carts, but customers of Recology and SCRR can.
